Hi, I'm Dona!

Photo Activist & Lifestyle Photographer

Photography is a lifelong passion of mine. I am fascinated by how a photograph has the ability to stop us in our tracks and transform our perspective. When I was a teenager, my father gave me a used Pentax 35mm and taught me the basics in the darkroom. Nowadays I relish in the possibilities for creativity that digital photography has to offer.

In December 2019, I decided to bring the homeless community of Fayetteville, North Carolina into our view via photography. The photography canon, “Take something people see every day and show it to them in a way they have never seen," inspired me to think outside the box.

“I AM SOMEBODY - Faces of Homelessness” is the first of many projects on my journey as a photo activist, someone who uses images and photography to fight for those who are unseen, unheard, forgotten, or powerless. I hope to encourage others to take up the torch – or in this case, the Canon or Nikon – and start their own social awareness projects.

I am also a Lifestyle photographer capturing precious moments in people's lives ~ telling their stories honestly yet artistically.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my work. I hope to meet you in the future.
